Sylvia's Girls

1965       Valerie Hawkins

Helen, a young pretty girl, while sunbathing on the beach meets a young chap. They spend some time chatting and he takes her for a ride in his convertible. Helen and the young man are seen making love in the car.
The next day at the office Helen tells her co-worker, Carol, that she did nothing all weekend except the usual loafing and reading.
We meet Helen's boyfriend, Bob, the same evening and Bob pursues his marriage proposal. Helen cannot accept his proposal because she enjoys the pick-ups and subsequent lovemaking. Bob and Helen have a clean relationship. He loves her very much.
Helen is picked up in a cocktail lounge by Clark, a procurer, who plies her with drinks and talks her into trying prostitution. He argues her into it because he feels a young girl who enjoys promiscuity should, also, be reimbursed for her favors.
Helen is shown as a call girl and she, also, enjoys herself even though these men are elderly and not the attractive men she had

been meeting in the past. After several assignments we see that Helen is beginning to have doubts during the relationships. Helen discusses her problem with her roommate, Wanda, who advised her to get psychiatric help. Helen agrees to visit a doctor.
She decides to see Sylvia, the madam, and make the break clean and while at Sylvia's place she is talked into trying one more customer. Helen agrees and this man proves to be repulsive and makes disgusting demands on Helen. She fights her way out of the bedroom and goes home.
We then see Helen with the psychiatrist who listens to her sordid story and at six o'clock he advises her that after six he is no longer a doctor and invites her to have a cocktail with him and they will have a more pleasant time after dinner. Helen screams with frustration and we then see Bob visiting the local police station where he is advised that Helen's body was found in a hotel room where she took an overdose of sleeping pills.
Clark and Sylvia have been arrested. Bob is shocked at hearing the story of Helen's secret life and her early death.
