forces her to probe into her subconscious and through brief "flashbacks" into her teen years (among which includes a sexual encounter with a hypocritically religious father), the audience is shown the traumatic incidents of her development which lead her to the desperate act of self-mutilation and, subsequently to the good doctor's bed.

Believing herself to have overcome her problem through her now strong attachment to Dr. Matson, and her reliance upon his will, Gabrielle encounters the doctor participating in an orgiastic sex act with two of his feminine followers and is thereby startled into the revelation that she has merely been his tool. Our film closes with Gabrielle, knife in hand, struggling with the decision between self-destruction and the murder of the smiling doctor who is confident of his domination of Gabrielle's mind and will.
