Dracula 5: Taste the Blood of Dracula
Movie Poster

1970       Christopher Lee

Dracula, the dreaded Vampire, is back. This time, the Prince of Darkness menaces the children of four apparently respectable families living in suburban London in Warner Bios.' "Taste the Blood of Dracula," which opened in color in 1970. Once again, Christopher Lee is Count Dracula. He is supported by co-stars Geoffrey Keen, Peter Sallis, John Carson, Linda Hayden, Isla Blair, Gwen Watford, Roy Kinnear, Russell Hunter and Michael Ripper. Peter Sasdy directed and Aida Young produced from a screenplay by John Elder.

Christopher Lee, who undoubtedly ranks as one of Britain's most famous international stars, has appeared in nearly 100 pictures. While he has played many "straight" roles, Lee has in recent years concentrated on portraying such menacing characters as Dracula, Frankenstein and Fu Manchu. He previously appeared as the star in Warner Bros.' "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave." Geoffrey Keen, who plays the brutal and sadistic William Hargood, has starred in "The Troubleshooters" TV program and in the films "The Inspector," "The Spiral Road," "The Heros of Telemark" and "Dr. Zhivago." Aida Young, the producer, revels in her job.

Perhaps the most outstanding among the few women film producers, Miss Young (formerly an actress) was associate producer on "She" and "One Million Years B.C." More recently, she produced "The Vengeance of She" and "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth." "Taste the Blood of Dracula" marks the directorial debut of Peter Sasdy, a specialist in the realms of science-fiction and of the macabre. He has previously produced or directed 150 plays and films for television.

Arthur Grant filmed the majority of "Taste the Blood of Dracula" in the Associated British Studios at Elstree, England. A number of exterior scenes were shot in the secluded countryside of Hartfordshire. Scott MacGregor was the art director. Click here for more
