James Bond: Spy Who Loved Me

1977       Roger Moore

Now well established in the role of Special Agent 007 of the British Secret Service is Roger Moore, who starred in "Live and Let Die" and "The Man With The Golden Gun".

Veteran British Director Lenis Gilhert, who previously helmed on "Only Live Twice" has supervised the five-month shooting schedule at London's Pinewood Studios, Sardinia, Egypt, the Bahamas, Baffin Island, Scotland and So Switzerland.

All ten James Bond films are released by United Artists, a TransAmeria Company.

The world's largest film stage was built at Pinewood especially for the interiors of the supertanker which kidnaps three nuclear submarines. Oscar-winning Production Designer Ken Adam is responsible for the gigantic setting.

A new James Bond car, which transforms into a midget submarine, a special Lotus "Esprit" - replaces the traditional Aston-Martin with a whole battery of tricks calculated to dazzle the villainous pursuers in "The Spy Who Loved Me";

A motorcycle which rides on water-called a "Wet-bike" will he seen for the first time.

Playing title girl in

the title role is Barbara Bach, an American living in Rome, who has never been seen before in a major international production.
Portraying a Russian Agent, she has the important feminine part ever seen in a Bond film.

Portraying time kinky villains are international star Curt Jurgens as a Nordie shipping magnate, and 7.2" Richard Kid as the bloodletting 'Jaws'. Convinced our civilization most be destroyed and renewed underwater, Jurgens has fish webs between his fingers: his 'heavy', Kiel, has shark-like steel teeth for disposing of his victims.

For the first time, a Bond film has an entirely original story. In accordance with Tan Fleming's wishes before his death - only the title of his original novel has been retained. A brand-new screenplay was developed over the past three years by Producer Broccoli with Screenwriters Christopher Wood and Richard Iaibaam. Bond traditionalists will feel entirely at home with the scenario.

Albert R. Broccoli's 'The Spy Who Loved Me' is the biggest and most lavish James Bond Film ever made. This is number ten in the series of Ian Fleming adventures which have become the most successful entertainment attraction of all time. Nearly one billion admissions have been registered for the Bond films since cameras turned on "Dr. No" on January 5, 1962 on the Island of Jamaica and that adds up to plenty of dollars, francs and liras.
